    Medicare

    $0 per visit

Most Medicare Part B patients with secondary insurance pay little to no out-of-pocket cost for in-home outpatient physical therapy. MoveBetter bills Medicare directly, so you can focus on your recovery without worrying about paperwork or unexpected expenses.

We provide private-pay physical therapy for individuals who are not using Medicare coverage, including those with other insurance plans or no insurance. Private-pay care may include skilled physical therapy for pain, injury, or post-operative recovery, as well as wellness care.

FAQs

Why do you only accept Medicare and not other insurance plans?

Our goal is to provide the highest-quality care with as few barriers as possible.

Many private insurance plans require prior authorizations, limit the number of visits, or restrict how care can be delivered—making it harder for patients to receive consistent, effective treatment. Medicare still has specific coverage criteria, but it allows us to deliver one-on-one physical therapy with far fewer administrative hurdles, supporting better continuity and outcomes.

For individuals who do not qualify for Medicare coverage, we also offer private-pay services, including skilled physical therapy, wellness, and preventive movement care, without insurance restrictions.

How many visits will I need?

After a comprehensive evaluation, your physical therapist will recommend a plan of care and visit frequency based on your goals, presentation, and clinical needs.

Some patients require a short course of skilled physical therapy to address pain, injury, or recovery after surgery. Others benefit from ongoing wellness, balance, or mobility-focused visits to maintain function, reduce fall risk, and support long-term independence.

Because all visits are one-on-one with no overlapping patients, most people need fewer visits than they would in a traditional outpatient clinic.

Why choose in-home physical therapy over clinic-based care?

Convenience

No travel required—ideal for those with mobility limitations, transportation challenges, busy schedules, or a preference for care at home.

True One-on-One Attention

Your therapist is focused solely on you, without the distractions or multiple-patient scheduling common in clinics. This allows for more personalized and effective care.

Real-Life Functional Care

Treatment takes place in your own environment, allowing your therapist to address real, day-to-day challenges and tailor care to your home and community needs.

Flexible Scheduling

Sessions can be scheduled at times that fit your routine, supporting consistency whether you are receiving skilled therapy or wellness-focused care.

Comfort & Privacy

Being treated at home promotes open communication, reduced stress, and a stronger therapeutic relationship.

Family & Caregiver Involvement

Caregivers and family members can participate in sessions to support safety, education, and long-term follow-through.

In Summary

In-home physical therapy offers a personalized, convenient, and functional approach to care—whether you need skilled rehabilitation, post–home health transition support, or ongoing wellness and mobility care.

By combining one-on-one treatment with care delivered in your own environment, we help patients move better, stay safer, and maintain independence over time.

Direct Access Rules

Medicare rules

Medicare requires a signed plan of care for physical therapy. Your MoveBetter therapist will create a plan of care during your first visit, and the MoveBetter team will work with your doctor to get it approved. You will need a new plan of care established every 90 days or 10 visits whichever is sooner.

Commercial insurance / Self-pay rules

In California, Direct Access rules allow patients to be seen for physical therapy for up to 12 visits with no prescription. After 12 visits or 45 days (whichever is first), the MoveBetter team will work with your doctor to obtain a prescription if more visits or time is needed.
